Clearfield Floors, Home and Industrial

Clearfield has more warehouse floor per resident than almost anywhere we work, and our epoxy flooring jobs here split between homes and industry. In 1943 the U.S. Navy built the Clearfield Naval Supply Depot to support the Pacific Fleet. Wikipedia says the site was picked in part for its rail and air access and its dry climate for storage. The depot was phased out by 1962, and private companies moved into the warehouses. Today that site is the Freeport Center, with more than 70 companies and over 7,000 workers.

Industrial and warehouse floors

Warehouse concrete takes a different kind of abuse than a home garage. Forklifts, pallet jacks and carts grind at the surface every shift. Spills from production lines or stored goods soak in. Bare slabs give off dust that settles on stock.

Our shop and warehouse floor epoxy is built for that:

  • Heavier, high-build coats that take rolling loads and impact
  • Chemical-resistant topcoats matched to what is spilled in your space
  • Safety striping for aisles, staging areas and walkways
  • Texture where floors get wet near dock doors or wash areas

We can phase work in sections so part of a building stays open. Before we quote, we walk the floor with you and note joints, cracks and any old coatings.

Homes along Hill AFB

Hill Field construction began in 1940, and the base runs along Clearfield's eastern edge. The town grew fast after that. Census counts show 982 residents in 1940, 4,723 in 1950 and 13,316 by 1970. Many homes from those decades have modest one- or two-car garages with older slabs. We grind off old paint, fill cracks and lay a flake epoxy floor that is easy to clean and brightens the space.

A young city with lots of renters and movers

Clearfield's median age was 28.5 at the 2020 census, and 46.1% of households had children under 18. Base assignments and new jobs bring a steady flow of people in and out. Owners who plan to sell or rent often coat a garage or basement because a clean, sealed floor shows well. Landlords like that it wipes clean between tenants. A sealed floor also hides fewer surprises at a move-out walk-through.

Snow, salt and inversions

Clearfield averages about 24 inches of snow a year, less than the cities closer to the mountains. Commuters still bring salt home from I-15 all winter. A coated garage floor keeps that brine on the surface. Winter inversions can also hold dust and grime in the air for days, so a floor that sweeps clean helps.

Basement floors

For basements, we test moisture before choosing a system. Basement floor epoxy in a solid color or light flake suits laundry rooms, storage and gyms. Metallic epoxy floors work in finished family rooms. If a basement shows damp spots or white mineral residue, we note it and talk through a moisture-tolerant primer before any coating is chosen.
